The New England independent scene just got its most unexpected power duo.

For every artist screaming for attention on TikTok, there’s a quiet storm brewing in the shadows. Meet Jerard Rice, the New England-based introvert who is turning his internal battles into external anthems.

Today, Rice announces his most ambitious move yet: the “Dimes Remix,” officially featuring the one and only SZA. Set to drop May 30, this collaboration bridges the gap between gutter-independent grit and Top Dawg-level soul.

A Spectrum of Sound

Jerard Rice isn’t your typical rapper-singer. Diagnosed on the spectrum at age 16, he describes his journey as “a whole journey of self acceptance itself.” That introspection bleeds into every bar.

In an exclusive statement to us, Rice explained the emotional core of his catalog: “My music reflects my life experiences. The disappointments, reflection is what I put in the music.”

While the industry chases vibes, Jerard is chasing ghosts—specifically, the legacy of his great grandparents. He cites “Life’s lessons and ups and downs” as his greatest source of inspiration, adding: “My great grandparents and people no longer with me are my greatest inspirations because they inspired me to never give up. Family and close friends continue to inspire me.”

“Dimes Remix”: A Cinematic Crossover

So, how did an independent artist from the 413 or 860 end up on a track with SZA? While the behind-the-scenes details are under wraps, the sonic prediction is clear.

The cover art for Dimes Remix delivers a bold cinematic aesthetic, capturing the raw emotion and intensity of two artists who aren’t afraid to bleed on the record. The original version of “Dimes” was a lesson in hustle and heartbreak; the remix promises to elevate that with SZA’s signature ethereal melancholy.

“Dimes Remix” is turning up the anticipation, blending soulful melodies, modern R&B energy, and emotionally driven storytelling. For Jerard, who openly identifies as an introvert, linking with an artist like SZA—the queen of socially anxious excellence—is a full-circle moment.

The Verdict

Production and Atmosphere

After listening to “Dimes Remix,” it’s clear that Jerard Rice isn’t trying to follow trends. Instead, he is focused on creating atmosphere and emotion. The record blends melodic Hip-Hop and contemporary R&B elements into a reflective listening experience that feels personal rather than performative.

The production leans into a smooth, moody soundscape. As a result, both artists have room to breathe. Jerard delivers his vocals with a sincere, understated approach that complements the song’s introspective themes. Meanwhile, SZA’s contribution adds an airy, emotional layer that elevates the track’s overall chemistry. Rather than competing for space, the two performances work together to create a cohesive record built on vulnerability and feeling.

Emotional Impact and Replay Value

What stands out most is the song’s ability to balance accessibility with authenticity. The melodic hooks provide replay value. However, beneath the surface is a deeper sense of reflection that rewards listeners who connect with emotionally driven music. Furthermore, the remix feels less like a commercial crossover and more like a natural extension of the song’s original message.

For fans of melodic Hip-Hop, alternative R&B, and artists who aren’t afraid to wear their emotions on their sleeve, “Dimes Remix” delivers a memorable listening experience. In addition, it feels equally at home during a late-night drive or through headphones during quiet reflection. Because of that, it stands as one of Jerard Rice’s most compelling releases to date.

New England’s underground is currently “full of independent talent,” but Jerard Rice is the one punching the ticket to the big leagues. He isn’t making music for the club; he’s making music for the late-night drive home when you’re reflecting on who you’ve lost and who you’re becoming.

“Dimes Remix” ft. SZA arrives everywhere on May 30.

Pre-save that introvert therapy session here.

Hip-hop has always been about survival, storytelling, and vision. Few groups embody all three like A.W.S.M. (The Awesome Crew). The legacy hip-hop group dates back to 1986, long before the South gained its mainstream spotlight. Hailing from Clinton, South Carolina, A.W.S.M. helped lay the groundwork for hip-hop culture in the state’s upstate region.

The group formed with Daddy D, Smooth D, Busy B, and Classy D. They didn’t just take part in the culture—they helped establish it locally. As Classy D explains, “We were pioneers of the hip-hop music scene in the upstate part of South Carolina.”

Today, the scene has grown into something expansive and diverse. “Charleston is known for bluegrass and Gullah spirituals but it has a diverse musical sound. Greenville is also diverse with jazz, rock and soul. Columbia is the state capital and it has a variety of clubs and pubs that features basically all genres of music.” A.W.S.M. helped plant the seeds that allowed that ecosystem to grow.

Life, Hustle, and 40 Years of Perspective

Four decades in hip-hop brings perspective that most artists never reach. For A.W.S.M., lived experience shapes every bar. “Because we’ve been in the game for 40 years, life has definitely influenced our lyrics and sound.”

Growing up without money shaped both their grind and their values. “Like a lot of people who grow up not having a lot of money, we hustled.” That hustle never crossed into destruction. “I wouldn’t call us a gang, but we hung together, got into fights like the typical teenagers but never committed any crimes.”

Instead, they created opportunity. “We hustled through basketball and doing our own shows.” That discipline still defines their music today.

Inspired by the Architects of the Culture

A.W.S.M.’s foundation comes directly from hip-hop’s architects. Their influences include “Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa and Kool Herc,” alongside R&B innovators “Prince and The Time.”

Image and presentation always mattered to the group. “We were always in hip-hop attire when we performed.” Evolution followed naturally. On their latest EP, “we were dressed in suits similar to The Time,” signaling growth without abandoning identity.

Loss, Legacy, and The Secret

A.W.S.M.’s journey includes triumph and deep loss. In 1993, tragedy struck. “The group basically folded in 1993 after Smooth D was shot and killed.” Years later, the city honored his impact. “He was inducted in 2019,” a moment that reignited the group’s creative spark.

That revival came with heartbreak. While recording new material, tragedy struck again. “As we were writing and recording new material, Daddy D unexpected died.” A tribute became something larger. “So, the song Back In The Days was originally a tribute to Smooth D. Since I had to finish the song, I made it a tribute to both of them.”

Those songs live on in the album The Secret, which also marked a new chapter for the group.

Today, A.W.S.M. continues as a duo. “I’m the primary rapper so my voice is the dominant one on the new songs but Busy B is still with the group. It’s down to us two now.”

Hip-Hop Beyond Age and Stereotypes

A.W.S.M. has never chased trends or youth validation. Their focus stays clear. “The most important thing is that we are here.” At this stage, “it’s all about preserving and possibly expanding our legacy.”

They also challenge a persistent myth. “Only Black music, hip-hop in particular, gets branded as a young person’s game.” Their stance is firm. “The older fans want good music and good lyrics. Actually, the younger generation does also.”

That belief has always shaped their approach. “We have never cursed in our music.” What once served radio now reflects purpose. “Now as a seasoned musical artist, I want the music to uplift and inspire.”

What Do I Know? — Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop With Vision

Their latest release, What Do I Know?, reflects maturity without limitation. “This is what I call adult contemporary hip-hop.” The record balances nostalgia with forward motion. “The lyrics are sort of a throwback but they are also futurist.”

The hook captures that mindset: “I drop the top down on the mix, make a new planet just for the kicks.” The message runs deeper than wordplay. “As black people, we have always been very creative. What’s more creative than to make a new planet?”

The goal stays intentional. “I want to plant a seed and hopefully elevate our thinking but also with good music.”

Final Word

A.W.S.M. isn’t competing with the present. They’re reminding hip-hop of its depth and durability. As Classy D puts it, “We are not chasing fame or celebrity status.” The mission remains personal and purposeful. “I want to introduce the genius of Smooth D and Daddy D to the world.”

With What Do I Know?, A.W.S.M. proves that real hip-hop doesn’t age—it evolves.

Listen here:
https://open.spotify.com/track/5WuZK9z62JHRNx3tAi3mEZ

From the cold streets of Montreal to the sun-drenched hustle of Los Angeles, Daforce’s journey is more than just a relocation story — it’s a transformation. The bilingual edge of Montreal and the relentless ambition of Los Angelescollide in his sound, creating a cross-border grind that feels both reflective and urgent.

With his latest release, “Survival,” Daforce taps into something universal — struggle, persistence, and elevation.

From Montreal to Los Angeles: Two Cities, One Vision

“Originally from Montreal Canada but been living in Los Angeles for a while now.”

That dual-city experience shapes Daforce’s perspective. Montreal’s diverse cultural pulse and L.A.’s competitive entertainment landscape create a layered artistic identity. Moving from Canada to the U.S. isn’t just about geography — it’s about leveling up, adapting, and proving yourself in new arenas.

Experience Is DNA

When it comes to what fuels his music, Daforce doesn’t hesitate to get philosophical.

“I think experience can be compared to DNA it’s everything it’s your history.”

That statement defines his artistry. For Daforce, music isn’t manufactured — it’s inherited through lived moments. Every setback, every lesson, every transition from Montreal to Los Angeles becomes encoded in his records. His catalog doesn’t just tell stories — it carries them.

Inspired by the Greats — Past and Present

Daforce draws energy from the culture itself.

“Inspiration comes from various sources but mostly from previous artists and current artists.”

That balance of honoring legacy while staying tapped into the now gives his music relevance. It’s the kind of mindset that keeps an artist evolving instead of staying boxed into one era or one sound.

Breaking Down “Survival”

At its core, “Survival” is exactly what the title suggests.

“The everyday struggles and battles we all go through in life. And conquering those obstacles.”

It’s not just a track — it’s a mindset. The record speaks to anyone navigating pressure, doubt, or adversity. Daforce frames struggle not as defeat, but as preparation. “Survival” feels like a soundtrack for those grinding in silence, building through resistance, and pushing forward no matter what.

More Than Music

Beyond the bars and beats, Daforce values connection.

“I love talking with people and connecting.”

In an era where artists can feel distant behind screens, that openness stands out. The music may tell his story, but the conversation keeps it real.

Where to Tap In

Stay connected with Daforce and stream “Survival” here:

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/daforcedawg
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/2zHd8FK93YsenLzm1q02AG

“Survival” isn’t just about making it through — it’s about coming out stronger on the other side. And for Daforce, that journey is only getting started

Some artists spend an entire career chasing a sound. Michael Harris—better known as Magic Mike—already has one, and it hits like a Michigan winter: cold, honest, and impossible to ignore.

Hailing from the city that birthed Motown but tempered by the concrete realities of modern Detroit, Magic Mike represents a lane that doesn’t make it into the algorithm-driven playlists often enough. “The music scene is awesome,” he tells us, understated. But when you listen to his latest offering, Your Ex, you realize awesome is an understatement for a city that keeps birthing soul survivors.

From Loss to Legacy

What separates an alright track from an anthem is usually the weight behind it. And Magic Mike has been carrying weight.

“My life experience in love and loss influence my writing capability tremendously,” he shares. That’s not a throwaway line. Your Ex drips with the kind of ache you can’t fake—the insomnia, the aimless street-wandering, the kind of love that makes a man wonder if somebody put a hex on him.

“I can’t even eat, no no / I can’t go to sleep, yeah / I just walked the streets / Looking down at my feet, yeah”

The track, which just hit DSPs, isn’t trying to be a victory lap. It’s vulnerable. It’s the 2 a.m. text you almost send. According to Magic Mike, it’s exactly that: “about the relationships I had and loss, and still trying to hold on to the memories of the relationship I had.”

It’s a universal feeling, but the specificity comes through in the vocal performance—a weathered delivery that suggests he’s lived this, not just observed it. When he pleads “Tell me what do you do / When you’re still in love with your ex,” it’s not a rhetorical question. He’s actually asking.

Survival Music

When asked about his greatest source of inspiration, Magic Mike doesn’t name a producer or a platinum artist. He gets personal.

“Life, family, and survival.”

In an era where street narratives often prioritize the highlight reel, Magic Mike is offering the quiet storm. The aftermath. The part after the beat stops and you’re just sitting in the dark with thoughts you can’t shake. “Think about you all the time / I can’t get you off my mind” — it’s a reminder that R&B has always been about truth-telling, and Detroit has always been a city that keeps it all the way honest.

The Heart Behind the Mic

Here’s something you don’t always get in the comments section or the blog posts: softness, unapologetically claimed.

“I have a good heart and love writing songs,” Magic Mike admits. It reads simple, but in a climate of tough guy posture, it’s actually radical. He’s betting that sincerity still hits harder than a hard drive full of punchlines. Based on the early response to Your Ex, that bet is paying off.

The Verdict

Your Ex isn’t trying to be a summer turn-up. It’s a late-night drive track—layered, comfortable in its weariness, and built for the hours when the sun’s gone and you’ve got too much time to think. The looped refrain hits like a prayer you’re tired of praying: “What do you do / When you’re still in love with your ex.”

Stream it. Sit with it. And keep an eye on Detroit. Magic Mike is proof that the D still produces artists who don’t just make music—they make confessionals.

If you think the next seismic shift in rap is only brewing in Atlanta basements or Brooklyn warehouses, you haven’t been looking at the map. Lurking in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains, not far from Denver’s mile-high air, a new force is preparing to pounce. His name is Malak Shalom, and with a philosophy as vast as his surrounding landscape and a sound as eclectic as his inspirations, he’s not just making music—he’s on a mission to reorganize the game itself.

From R. Kelly to Reggae: The Making of a Sonic Alchemist

Malak’s foundation was poured with a rich, mixed concrete of soul, funk, and straight-up gangsta rap. “From the R&B vibrations coming from my mommas speakers… to the Hip-Hop poster riddled walls of my oldest brother’s bedroom. Music has been a part of my upbringing as diapers and bottle formulas,” he shares, painting a picture of a household where Roberta Flack and Spice 1 shared equal shelf space. This early immersion bred not just a fan, but a fervent student of sound. “I love to study music objectively,” he states, and his current playlist—a mix of Christian Rock, Reggae, and lo-fi Afrobeats—proves he’s a scholar without borders.

But for Malak, music is more than just notes and flows; it’s the emotional fingerprint of a life lived. “A lot of times its not even the lyrics but the memories and nostalgia that comes with the music in general,” he explains. “From the hardship, struggles, and good times life is strongly infused in my music. Life and its experiences is the overall inspiration that drives the creation.” Above all, he points to a higher power: “That has to be the source of life itself. GOD!”

“My Life Gon Change”: A Global Collab with a Positive Pulse

His latest release, “My Life Gon Change,” is a perfect manifesto of his global, uplifting ethos. A vibrant collaboration with a burgeoning talent from Nigeria, the track rides a smooth Afrobeats composition, offering a dose of unwavering optimism. “The song is called ‘My Life Gon Change’ im proud of this creation,” Malak says. “Hope you all enjoy it. May it help get you through the day or a hard time.” It’s more than a song; it’s an audio lifeline, designed to uplift.

A Pact with the People: Revolution Starts with the Fanbase

What sets Malak Shalom apart isn’t just his sonic range, but his radical dedication to the covenant between artist and audience. He sends a clear, unmistakable message to potential supporters: “That once yall finally put your support behind me I will change the world aiming for the better! I will stay consistent and will strive to bring quality, meaningful, and cinematic content.”

He draws a stark line in the sand, distancing himself from the empty promises that plague other industries. “I will not be like a politician that gets your vote, line my pockets, and forget about you while in office. Support the real. I care about you the fan.” His ambition is grand, but his path is clear: “I look to organize and revolutionize Hip-Hop. But it starts with a loyal fanbase. I need advocates!”

With one ear studying the Billboard 100 and the other tuned to the rhythm of the earth itself, Malak Shalom is a holistic creator for a fragmented time. He sees the “promising potential” of his Rocky Mountain scene, waiting for that one star to catapult it. All evidence suggests he’s not waiting for that star—he’s becoming it. The bear is out of hibernation.

Stream “My Life Gon Change” on Spotify below and get in on the ground floor of the revolution.

From Florida With Feeling

Florida has always been a melting pot for sound, and because of that, Storm fits naturally into that lineage. Coming out of a state where the culture blends Hip-Hop, Blues, and Latin influences, Storm’s music carries a lived-in soul that feels inherited as much as it is learned. Rather than chasing trends, his story focuses on channeling something deeper — something passed down, something felt, and something real.

Music in the Bloodline

Music didn’t just enter Storm’s life — it surrounded him from the very beginning. On one side, his mother sang in church. On the other, his father played saxophone for big bands connected to legends like Duke Ellington. As a result, music was never optional; it was foundational. Hearing his father play before his passing left a lasting imprint, which pushed Storm toward writing lyrics as early as age 12. Since then, songwriting hasn’t felt like a hobby — it has remained a necessity.

Inspiration That Never Turns Off

Storm approaches music instinctively and consistently. Inspiration doesn’t wait for studio time or perfect conditions. As he explains, “My greatest source of inspiration is me, life itself.” Because of that mindset, creativity follows him everywhere: “When I sleep I hear music, if I’m walking I hear music if someone says a word and it catches my ear I would write a song.” This constant awareness separates his work from the manufactured feel common in today’s landscape.

A True Musician at Heart

Beyond vocals and songwriting, Storm stands out as a true musician. He plays drums and keyboard, which allows him to ground his records in real instrumentation and feel. Consequently, his arrangements breathe, the emotions stretch naturally, and the songs feel performed rather than programmed. For Storm, music doesn’t just express emotion — it creates presence.

Faith, Gratitude, and What’s Next

At the same time, Storm stays grounded in gratitude. He loves creating, enjoys people, and remains rooted in faith, always thankful for life and opportunity. Meanwhile, new music is already on the way, signaling that this moment represents only the beginning of a much larger chapter.

“Heart”: A Real Emotion Captured in Sound

That momentum becomes clear on his latest release, “Heart.” The track feels deeply personal because it grew from a real-life connection that left a permanent mark. Storm shares that the song came from meeting “this beautiful, touching young lady,” whose “kind, caring and loving ways” sparked something powerful. As a result, the emotion overwhelmed him: “Every time that she got near me, I was just filled as strong, strong, strong attraction to her,” a feeling that ultimately pushed him to write the record.

Vulnerability With No Filter

What truly separates “Heart” is its honesty. There’s no distancing and no irony — only vulnerability. Storm admits the emotion never faded: “I still can’t shake the feeling of her to this day.” Then he delivers a line that lingers long after the track ends: “I don’t have a heart, but I love her deeply no cap.” Because of that raw openness, the song resonates far beyond a typical love record.

A Lane of His Own

Ultimately, “Heart” stands as more than a love song. It captures a moment shaped by memory, musicianship, and instinct. Storm doesn’t try to convince listeners — instead, he lets them feel exactly what he felt. In an era where authenticity drives impact, that honesty may be his greatest strength.

With deep roots, real musicianship, and emotion-first songwriting, Storm continues carving his own lane — one heartbeat at a time.

Listen to “Heart” here:
https://open.spotify.com/album/3yVSOxV0AlUtrK5dAkwKIK

In an era where digital drift blurs rap regions, true geography still breeds the realest sounds. We’re talking specific zip codes and particular blocks. Enter Lord Gregory I, an East Oakland oracle carrying the Town’s unfiltered legacy. More than just another algorithm name, he’s a deliberate heir to a rich cultural throne. His latest single “PLAYBOY (I SHOW SPEED THE TOWN)” serves as a thumping declaration of his roots.

THE TOWN’S DISTINCT FREQUENCY

Hailing from East Oakland’s concrete, Lord Gregory immediately draws a line between Northern California and Southern glitz. “It’s different from Los Angeles which is a 6hr drive away from us,” he states, defining his locale’s unique flavor. Furthermore, he breaks down the local vibe: “The music scene is diverse. We have our Hyphy Culture, Pimp/Player Culture and Dance/Gig a little different out here. Yahdahdahmean?” This rhetorical question isn’t just slang; it acts as a password into a world where sideshows become symphonies.

A PHILOSOPHY FORGED IN EAST OAKLAND

He forged this hard-won perspective from East Oakland’s streets. “I’m usually a passive individual but you cannot be shy in this world,” Lord Gregory explains. His reasoning is clear: “You have to tell people what you want and how you want to be treated or they try to walk over you.” Ultimately, this lesson in self-possession echoes through his music’s confident stride.

A TRUE SCHOOL TRINITY OF INSPIRATION

His inspirations create a blueprint for Bay Area excellence: Too $hort, 2Pac and Christión. This holy trinity maps directly onto his output—$hort’s pimping, Pac’s conviction, and Christión’s smooth, R&B-kissed grooves. Interestingly, he adds, “And there’s an interesting story behind Christión but that’s another topic,” hinting at more game to come.

PORTRAIT OF A VIRGO LORD

So, who is the man behind the moniker? He paints a textured self-portrait. “I’m a well rounded Virgo born at Oakland Navel Hospital which no longer exists. I’m from The Black Panther Party Era.” Additionally, he describes his demeanor: “I’m Charming, Pleasant , Funny, Slow to Anger. I treat everyone with respect but I don’t tolerate disrespect. I’m a hugger and a firm hand shaker.” This captures the essence of an O.G.—a balance of warmth and unshakable principle.

“PLAYBOY”: A LATE-NIGHT ANTHEM FOR THE GIG

He distilled that essence into “PLAYBOY.” The track dropped October 10, 2025, and is still gaining steam with over 1,000+ Spotify streams. Importantly, he built the single as a pure product of his environment. “I built it in my Oakland studio, starting with live horns and a heavy West Coast bass line,” he details, “chasing the late-night energy of the Bay.” Ultimately, the beat dedicates itself to The Bay Area’s Gig/Dance Culture. The hook directly salutes his city’s heartbeat, specifically “East Oakland’s Sideshow, the street scene recently buzzing thanks to I Show Speed.”

YAHDAHDAHMEAN?

Therefore, “PLAYBOY” is more than a song. It’s an audio postcard from a specific intersection of culture and history. Instead of chasing trends, Lord Gregory I reinforces a legacy. In a world full of yes-men, the Lord speaks with the firm handshake of Oakland truth. Yahdahdahmean?

Stream “PLAYBOY (I SHOW SPEED THE TOWN)” and the growing catalog of Lord Gregory I on Spotify now.

In an industry obsessed with youth and specific zip codes, a new voice emerges from the most unexpected of places: Park City, Utah, via Cape Cod, with a heart firmly planted in Cabo San Lucas. Meet Paul Henry, the 58-year-old first-time artist proving that inspiration—and a dope beat—can hit at any age. With the release of his debut track, “The Cabo Song Hip Hop Version,” Henry isn’t just dropping a song; he’s inviting you on a sun-drenched, tequila-kissed vacation straight through your speakers.

From Family Man to First-Time Artist

Forget the typical come-up story. Henry’s path to music began not in a basement studio, but in a lifetime of experience. “I discovered song writing and producing music at 58 years old,” he states, a fact that makes his polished debut even more intriguing. His muse isn’t street corner struggles, but a life well-lived. “Travel and learning about new cultures influences my music, the experiences of raising four kids and two step kids influences my music, relationships, love, and having lost people I love influences my music.”

This isn’t a nostalgia act, though. It’s the start of a second act. “I am 58 but I feel like I am just getting started especially when it comes to music,” Henry says with the energy of a rookie. “In mid December of 2025 I decided to write The Cabo Song and then created The Cabo Song Hip Hop Version. Since then I have also released a song called, The Cape Cod Song.”

“The Cabo Song Hip Hop Version”: A Sonic Getaway

His latest release is a love letter to a destination that has been his sanctuary for 25 years. “I love everything about Cabo San Lucas. The people, the beaches, the food and restaurants, the culture, the nightlife, the energy, the perfect weather, the Wild West spirit of Cabo. I wanted to capture all those things in this song.”

The track aims to bottle that vibrant, breezy energy. It’s a fusion of his wide-ranging musical diet—”I also listen to music all the time and all kinds genres, 1970’s through today’s hits influence my music”—and his primary source of inspiration: beauty. “I pay attention to peoples struggles and passions, in general I think I really appreciate things that are beautiful especially places and people.”

What’s Next for the Park City Prodigy?

Paul Henry represents a different kind of hustle. His studio time is balanced with being “happily married,” and his passions for skiing, mountain biking, and the outdoors. He’s an artist driven not by chart positions, but by connection. “I am discovering how amazing it is to create something that people appreciate and having someone listen to your song and connect with it is a very cool feeling.”

With “The Cabo Song Hip Hop Version,” Henry offers an escape. It’s a reminder that hip-hop’s spirit—storytelling, passion, painting a picture of your world—has no age limit. If his paradise sounds good to you, hit the link below and let the vacation begin.

From Providence, Rhode Island to the Inner World

PoeticQ doesn’t just rap—he documents life. Hailing from Providence, Rhode Island, an environment he describes as a place where the music scene is “very correctly” shaped by a pictorial, lived-in world, PoeticQ’s sound feels rooted in observation and reflection. His work sits comfortably alongside the kind of introspective hip-hop championed by outlets like XXL, HotNewHipHop, and HipHopDX—music that prioritizes message over moment.

A Voice Forged Through Loss and Expression

Born in 1972, PoeticQ’s artistic awakening traces back to a pivotal year: 1989. After the passing of his grandmother, Alice Moultre, writing became more than an outlet—it became purpose. That loss sparked a lifelong commitment to expression, eventually leading him to develop his signature approach, known as “the blackpen Q.” His dedication paid dividends early, earning publication in the Brown University newspaper and a scholarship to Norfolk State University.

Writing Reality Through the Pen’s Eye

For PoeticQ, music is inseparable from lived experience. As he puts it, “Life living lessons through the lens of my pen’s eye writes reality lyrics to teach the world.” That philosophy drives his catalog—songs that feel like chapters, not singles. His greatest source of inspiration comes from “Life living ancestors lessons,” grounding his work in generational wisdom and spiritual continuity.

Painting Pictures in a Morbid Time

Fans should know that PoeticQ approaches songwriting like a visual artist. “I am a creative writer of music that paints the pictures to this morbid life we live today,” he explains. That cinematic sensibility comes through clearly on his latest release, Another Day to Find Self.

Another Day to Find Self: Searching for Balance and Peace

Described by the artist as “a mixture of movies movement to life control world and how to find inner peace and balanced of living,” the project plays like a reflective journey—one that wrestles with chaos while searching for calm. It’s music meant for late nights, long walks, and moments of self-check, speaking directly to listeners navigating their own inner worlds.

Beyond Music: A Multidimensional Creative

Beyond music, PoeticQ’s creativity extends into poetry and children’s books, reinforcing his mission to communicate across ages and formats. At its core, his art speaks to the inner soul—where pain, love, healing, and understanding collide.

Stream the Project

East Coast Roots, Boundary-Free Sound

Coming out of the East Coast’s ever-shifting soundscape, Reesa is carving a lane that lives somewhere between emotional honesty and sonic exploration. In a region where, in her own words, “Music where I’m at is a mixture of everything from trap to pop, we’re just looking for a vibe,” Reesa stands out by leaning fully into feeling. Her music isn’t chasing trends—it’s chasing truth.

Pain as the Spark for Creation

For Reesa, artistry came from a moment of personal awakening. “Loving people who lack accountability, compassion, or even passion woke me up,” she explains. That realization pushed her toward creation, not just as expression, but as survival. “I decided to create as a way to have an outlet in a way that can be related with by others.” That relatability is the thread running through her work—raw emotions wrapped in smooth, modern production.

Inspired by Voices That Feel

Her influences reveal the DNA of her sound. She draws inspiration from artists who prioritize mood, individuality, and vocal presence, citing Sabrina Claudio for her “sultry, breathy composition,” Ariana Grande for “dynamic belting,” Billie Eilish for being “different and innovative,” and Jhené Aiko for her “beautiful vocals.” The result is a genre-fluid approach that feels intimate yet expansive.

From Quiet Talent to Recorded Truth

Reesa’s journey as an artist truly began when she stopped holding herself back. “I stopped singing into the space I occupied and started hitting record,” she says. That shift unlocked a fearless creative mindset. “As an artist, I seek expression and healing so I’m adventurous with my sound.” It’s that adventurousness that makes her music feel lived-in rather than manufactured.

“Patient”: Loving Through the Uncomfortable

Her latest release, “Patient,” captures that essence perfectly. The track dives headfirst into the complexities of love, especially the parts most people shy away from. “Patient is a song about the capability of loving someone even through her ‘ugly’,” Reesa explains. More than just a love song, it’s a reflection on endurance and emotional maturity. “It describes the ability to remain resilient, compromising, and patient.” The record floats between vulnerability and strength, making it easy to connect with and hard to forget.

An Artist Focused on Growth, Not Hype

With “Patient,” Reesa proves she’s not just making songs—she’s documenting growth. And if this release is any indication, she’s an artist worth keeping on your radar as she continues to heal, experiment, and evolve in real time.

Listen to “Patient” by Reesa:
https://open.spotify.com/track/4rlmdTfuuWvk9hnODqrSFm?si=RdqASAyjRLuZJyafDgoyKw
