Kendrick Lamar (K. Dot) will once again take to the biggest stage in entertainment as this year’s headliner.
The rap megastar will be giving the Super Bowl LIX halftime performance on February 9th at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Kendrick’s last Super Bowl performance had fans at attention, living up to the name of his captivating live performances.
Lamar’s commanding vocals and rhythmic cadence, mixed with his compelling and socially conscious M.C. lyrics make for one of the greatest half-time shows to date.
Dot songs like “Money Trees” and “F*ck Your Ethnicity” have encapsulated the voices of a generation, vocalizing the struggles and hardships endured by millions. Global Citizen goes into detail over the lengths Lamar has gone for his community. Daniele Selby writes;
“‘If you visit Compton… Mr. Lamar is a familiar face in the neighborhood,’ Senator Hall said. The rapper has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Compton Unified School District’s music, sports, and after-school programs to help keep Compton students off the streets and in the classroom.”
It’s safe to assume Caesars will be on its feet when Lamar takes the stage. Kung Fu Kenny’s fans are loyal. Their presence will no doubt be felt at the end of the second quarter. The energy will be nothing short of electric. I can’t be the only one wondering what Drake will say.
