SZA’s album “SOS” returned to the number one position for a 13th consecutive week on the Billboard 200 album chart in the week of May 3, 2025. Luminate reported that the album rises from number three to number one receiving 52,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the ending week of April 24th with decrease of 1%.
The continued commercial success of “SOS“ is a contribution of deluxe album titled as “SOS Deluxe: LANA” which extended 15 tracks along with the February release where it features four bonus tracks. SOS was released in December 2022. SOS recorded 23 tracks, spend 10 consecutive weeks at number one, returned two more weeks after the release of LANA in early 2025. According to The Source,”this 13th week at No. 1 marks the most weeks atop the chart for an R&B/hip-hop or R&B album by a woman since Whitney Houston’s self-titled album in 1986. The last R&B/hip-hop album to spend at least 13 weeks at No. 1 was Drake’s ‘Views’ in 2016, and the last R&B album to do so was ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack.”
SZA is recently on her co-headlining “Grand National Tour” with Kendrick Lamar, and his latest album “GNX” peaks at number two on the Billboard 200. However, since there are entries to the debut on this week’s top 10 on the Billboard 200, Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal reached a new peak from 24 – 10.
