Chicago’s artist, producer, and DJ TP Corleone releases his new single/music video “Down to the Ground,” via Wake Up! Music, blending nu-dance house music with savors of disco into a retro-flavored sound brimming with contagious energy.
“Down to the Ground” features the luscious vocals of Joi Courtenay, whose evocative, seductive tones infuse the lyrics with vibrant surfaces that provide a warm melodicism juxtaposed against Corleone’s rapping-lite flow.
Corleone began Deejaying at popular spots in Chicago such as High Ricky’s, Dating Game, Dragon Room, and 160 Blue where he showcased his original singles such as “Ghetto Steppin,” “Getcha Club On,” “Let’s Get It Together.” and “Bendat Azzova.” He hosted The Chi City Funk Show on Chicago’s WHPK 88.5 FM and the TP Live Radio Show on Intellectual Radio/iHeartRadio. At the present juncture, Corleone hosts The Funk Zone Radio Show on WGFM Radio.com, as well as TP’s House on LWR Radio House, and TP Sizzles Mix Show on ChicagoSizzleRadio.com.
Influenced by Chicago’s distinctive brand of house music and the funk bands he grew up listening to, Corleone was also a vital part of the city’s hip-hop scene, where he merged his musical inspirations into his unique style.
“Down to the Ground” travels on buoyant keyboards riding a thumping, infectious rhythm as Courtenay’s smooth, rich voice converges with the groove to shape a catchy hook. Corleone’s vocals infuse the tune with swaggering timbres, adding flair to the song’s momentum. Full of flamboyant dynamism and vivacious oomph, “Down to the Ground” is a compelling house anthem that demands attention.
