Everybody knew Tyla’s Karaoke song when she released her “Breathe Me” music video on Tuesday, September 3.
Catching up where Tyla’s “Truth or Dare” music video took off early this year in February, where it shows the appearance of Tyla’s love interest, o. “Breathe Me” travels to a random evening date in Osaka, Japan. The lovely couple were smiling at each other, as they took themselves to the private karaoke room for a crazy rendezvous moment where Tyla seduces him. The Nabil-directed video was already filmed the previous month when the singer from Johannesberg, South Africa participated at Tower Records Shibuya when her boyfriend wore the store’s merchandise.
“Breathe Me” appeared on Tyla’s self-titled debut album, which came out in March 2024 through FAX and Epic Records. It peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200 and number eight on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Tyla is nominated for three awards: “Best New Artist”, “Best R&B Video”, and “Best Afrobeats Video” with her Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit Water” at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11.
“The South African genre of amapiano just started bubbling, and I’m so proud that South Africa has a genre that people are enjoying and paying attention to. I’m super proud of my country and where our sound has gone,” Tyla explained on Billboard in her Cover Story in March 2024.
