Bryson Tiller Album Release: Self-Titled Album Arrives
Bryson Tiller Album Release news arrived on April 5, as fans finally received new music from the R&B star. Tiller released his self-titled album through RCA Records after a long wait from supporters.
Bryson Tiller Shares His Vision Behind The Album
“My main goal with this album is for the masses to hear everything I’m capable of doing,” said Tiller during a Billboard interview. “So they give me a chance and stick around as fans. My main goal is that everybody hears it, and my guarantee is that you’ll love at least one song from this album.”
Tiller’s self-titled album features 19 tracks and includes two special guests: Victoria Monét on “Persuasion” and Clara La San on “Random Access Memory (RAM).” The project also includes previously released singles such as “Outside,” “Calypso,” and “Whatever She Wants.”
The single “Whatever She Wants” earned Tiller his first Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since his 2015 breakout single “Don’t.” The track also debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The Story Behind “Calypso”
Tiller described “Calypso” as one of the most story-driven songs on the album. He created the track like a movie, focusing on a story about a man reflecting on a past relationship.
“It is just a movie, top-to-bottom. It’s about a guy going to the club and looking at the guest list and realizing his name is on there next to a girl he used to date,” Tiller explained.
“He never forgot her name because she wore her name on her necklace. They get inside the club and it’s empty. Maybe it’s not empty and it’s a vibe, but it reminds them of a time when the club was packed. That song comes on, ‘Just like magic they playing our song.’ It’s just like, ‘We gotta get one last dance in.’ The guy’s hoping he can go home with her that night, but it doesn’t end up that way.”
Bryson Tiller’s Latest Chapter In R&B
Tiller’s self-titled album is his fourth studio album and arrived four years after “Anniversary,” which celebrated the fifth anniversary of his debut album, “Trapsoul.”
“Anniversary” featured collaborations including Drake on “Outta Time” and Big Sean on “Still Yours” from the deluxe edition. The project contained 10 tracks and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Bryson Tiller’s self-titled album continues his evolution as an artist, combining R&B melodies, hip hop influences, and personal storytelling.
