Kaytranada released his third album, “Timeless” on Friday, June 7. “Timeless”, is picked up as if the Pandemic did not exist, as if the concept of the Pride month without shimmering were unbelievable. Dashing through 21 tracks which could barely last for three minutes, the Haitian-Canadian “groove god” music as he excitedly wanted to return to the studio and come out with a bang, to participate in 2016’s 99.9%, and 2019’s Grammy-Award winning album, “BUBBA”.
Although, it could be understandable that the project of numberless studio hours, and phone calls to illustrate guest stars, the album’s drive becomes persistent, its enthusiasm very contagious, and it sounds as it creates in real life. “Timeless” is filled with a Met Gala style of appearance from funk psychedelic Anderson .Paak, and Childish Gambino to dominate pop singer Tinashe, and Ravyn Lenae. All dance in and out comfortably, as if receiving their rotation on the mic at a freestyle lounge.
Kaytranada’s strong production skill, midway between the vibration of the house, and the intoxicated lope of J Dilla barely hands up. Especially, whether he brought Charlotte Day Wilson in the showcase of classical-pop quality on “Still” or Channel Tres above hard-core beats on “Drip Sweat,” these wrecking balls seem to materialize clearly out of the music, as if they become “rare-groove deeps cuts” flawlessly combined into a DJ scene. If he knowledged the appearance of hyperpop or Brazillian funk or something besides the dance-music world on the flip side of the pandemic, Kaytranada might have completed with a recent interesting album, however, it is complicated to visualize a major improvement.
Kaytranada came a long way from a depreciating return, “Timeless” brought the sound of principal providing back into the disco, and seeking his muse disrupting bright as never seen before.
