Tyla Delivers a Ferocious Performance of “Jump” With Gunna & Skillibeng at the 2024 BET Awards
Los Angeles, California – On June 30, Tyla encouraged the audience to get out of their seats and jump. She performed her latest song, “Jump,” with Gunna and Skillibeng at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday night.
Four women, each painted as a different section of a tiger, lay across the floor of the cage and swept its tail. Skillibeng opened the performance with the lyric, “Original gyal, you are no replica (No).” Tyla entered the stage on a rope swing. She then stepped into the cage before singing her viral lyric: “They never had a pretty girl from Joburg. See me now, and that’s what they prefurrr.”
Next, Gunna delivered his verse near the elephant statue. Skillibeng returned to the stage as dancers escorted men across the set. Meanwhile, Tyla danced beneath the stage.
After canceling her first headlining world tour and a Coachella performance earlier this year because of a severe injury, Tyla appeared at several major events. Those appearances included Spotify Beach during Cannes Lions and Afro Nation in early June.
“Jump” is the latest single from Tyla’s self-titled debut album, which FAX/Epic Records released in March. The song debuted at No. 19 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. It also reached No. 3 on the Afrobeats Songs chart.
Tyla won two BET Awards: Best New Artist and Best International Act. She also received four nominations, including Viewers’ Choice for her Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit “Water” and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
Gunna also earned three nominations. They included Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year for A Gift & A Curse, and the Viewers’ Choice Award for “Fukumean.”
