The 2025 Grammy Awards: Nominees Announced
The nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards are finally in. Beyoncé leads with 11 nominations, a record-breaking achievement in her music career. Billie Ellish, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX each earned seven nominations. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, SabrinaCarpenter, and Chappel Roan are up for six nominations apiece.
Album and Record of the Year Contenders
Pitchfork noted the strong lineup in the major categories. The Album of the Year race includes Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Charli XCX’s Brat, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. In addition, the category features André 3000‘s woodwind album New Blue Sun and Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4. Record of the Year, by contrast, features singles from most of these artists. André 3000 and Collier are replaced by the Beatles (“Now and Then“) and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” That song accounts for most of the rapper’s seven nominations. His collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, “Like That,” is also in the mix; it sparked the Drake beef that led to “Not Like Us.”
First-Time Nominees and 2024 Winners
Although Carpenter and Roan are first-time Grammy nominees, Shaboozey received five nominations and Doechii earned three, including Best New Artist. Furthermore, 2024 was a big year for four achievers: Taylor Swift (Album of The Year), Miley Cyrus (Record of the Year), Victoria Monét (Best New Artist), and Billie Eilish (Song of the Year). The year also featured other winners such as SZA, Karol G, and Killer Mike.

Your remaining long sentences come from the nominee lists. Yoast treats each semicolon-separated list as one sentence, so many run past 20 words. I split most lists into two sentences, and I put a transition word at the start of every “Best…” paragraph, rotating the words so none repeats three times in a row. Splitting adds sentences, so I needed far more transition words than before to reach 30%. I can’t run Yoast, so check the scores after pasting. If sentence length is still slightly over, change one more semicolon to a period in the longest remaining lists.
