What inspired your latest single and music video, “Hands On Me?”
Mike Teezy:
“Truly the Word of God! Revelation 12:11 says, ‘We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimonies.’ I wanted to share the struggles and emotions I’ve experienced to encourage and help someone else.”
Who directed the video, and where did you film it?
Mike Teezy:
“Will Thomas directed it, and we filmed it in Atlanta, Georgia.”
What do you want people to take away from the video?
Mike Teezy:
“No matter what your situation looks like, with God anything is possible.”
How did you connect with Jekalyn Carr?
Mike Teezy:
“Through social media. Jekalyn saw one of my videos that went viral in late 2022 and started following and supporting my music. Later, we talked about collaborating. I appeared on her album JEKALYN on the song ‘Celebration’ alongside Kirk Franklin and Pastor Mike Jr. After that, we teamed up again for ‘Hands On Me.'”

How did you get started in music?
Mike Teezy:
“I’ve always loved music because I grew up in a musical family. I started dancing and playing drums when I was four years old. Around 2010, while recording with friends in college, I discovered my passion for rapping and singing.”
Which artists influenced your sound?
Mike Teezy:
“I’ve been inspired by many artists across different genres, including Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Drake, Big Sean, Busta Rhymes, Lecrae, and Kirk Franklin.”
How would you describe your sound?
Mike Teezy:
“My sound is different and refreshing. My music blends elements of Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Funk, Gospel, and several other genres.”
Creative Process & Inspiration
Why do you make music?
Mike Teezy:
“I truly want to change lives and positively impact the world through my music.”
What does your songwriting process look like?
Mike Teezy:
“I stopped physically writing songs in 2016. Now I freestyle and use punch-ins, which allows me to create freely without feeling confined to writing everything down.”

“Caleb Gordon, Jekalyn Carr, Forrest Frank, Hulvey, J. Cole, Drake, and many others.”
Looking Ahead
How do you define success?
Mike Teezy:
“I measure success by how much I’m able to give back to my family and community, along with how many people I’ve been able to help bring up with me.”
What can fans expect over the next six months?
Mike Teezy:
“I’m definitely releasing more music. I already have several songs ready to go, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear them. I’m also planning another album later this year along with another tour.”
