Mariah Carey is getting her feet wet to begin a new era. She disappeared for almost seven years without releasing a studio album. Now, the outstanding pop vocalist announced on social media that she is releasing an upcoming album. She also teased that “the first taste of it may be coming sooner than [you] think.”
On Monday, June 2, the singer-songwriter created a glamorous video on social media. In the video, Carey sat in a car to promote an upbeat hip-hop track that she had been listening to on the radio. The video lasted a short time with an untitled track – “T:D _ MC16mp3.” “To show my appreciation for your support, thank you DJs,” she wrote.
The license plate in the video suggests that Carey will release a lead single. Moreover, the single is expected to arrive on Friday, June 6. It will precede her 16th upcoming studio album, following her 2018 album, “Caution.”
In September 2020, Carey released her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. She wrote it to navigate her amazing journey and share her own story. Furthermore, in May 2025, she previously worked on her project for the 20th Anniversary Edition of “The Emancipation of Mimi.”
