During the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, SZA debuted a new song called “Saturn” during the Mastercard commercial. She released the studio version of the track on February 22, 2024, as the lead single from her upcoming third album, Lana (2024).
Following the commercial success of SZA’s second studio album, SOS (2022), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, she became one of the featured stars at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The album also produced five Billboard Hot 100 top-ten hit singles. During the ceremony, SZA won three Grammy Awards: Best R&B Song for “Snooze,” Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost in the Machine” with Phoebe Bridgers. Although she received the most Grammy nominations that year, she did not finish as the night’s biggest winner. Instead, she tied with Bridgers with four Grammy wins each.
After celebrating her victories, SZA performed two songs from SOS for viewers: “Snooze” and “Kill Bill.” During the final performance, she and 12 women dressed in “Kill Bill”-inspired outfits battled male performers on stage. At one point, SZA launched one of the men into the air while continuing to sing.
