Rising Alternative-R&B star Khamari will release his upcoming sophomore album, To Dry a Tear, on August 22 via Encore Recordings.
The 11-track album will feature three released singles: Lonely In The Jungle, Sycamore Tree, and Head In a Jar.
The Boston-native made a statement on the development of these three songs. For example, regarding the latter track, “Lonely in the Jungle” and my first single “Head in a Jar” are two parts of the same scene. It’s about being surrounded by so much yet still feeling alone. In particular, I drew inspiration from what Jeff Buckley did so well – putting a certain alternative rock energy and musicality behind these soulful songs that were really blues in form and emotion.”
Khamari appeared for Spotify’s RNB X Magazine, where he explained the themes he learned while creating To Dry a Tear: “It’s still pretty introspective. I talk about trust, desire, fear, addiction. The idea that maybe you don’t have what you want because you don’t know what that is yet.”
Khamari mentioned various artists from all genres that influenced the album: “Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, Jeff Buckley, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, Kendrick [Lamar], The Beatles. I was inspired by great storytellers.”
Here is the tracklist of To Dry a Tear:
